Welcome your Chapter Incoming Governor, Michael Foster, MD

Michael Foster, MD, has been elected to the position of Governor Elect for the South Carolina Chapter.

Foster is an interventional cardiologist practicing in Columbia, SC for 33 years. His practice is focused on complex coronary intervention, CTO’s, and structural heart disease. He is a past President of the SC affiliate of the American Heart Association. He has served as a councilor for the past six years and is currently the Secretary/Treasurer. He has been active in advocacy, currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Cardiology Advocacy Alliance and has attended the Legislative Conference in Washington, DC for the past six years. He currently serves as medical director for the cardiac catheterization laboratory and cardiac rehabilitation at Providence Hospital. He also serves on the MEC and the Board of Directors at Providence Hospital. He has served as principle investigator on dozens of clinical trials. He has a long standing interest in intravascular ultrasound and has served as a consultant and speaker at the national level. He is married with four children and one grandchild. Dr. Foster is board certified in cardiology and interventional cardiology and has been an FACC for 31 years. He is a commercially rated private pilot who enjoys traveling, studying history, golfing and snow skiing.
