Welcome New Councilor, Dr. Dharini Ramu

Dr. Dharini Ramu, MD, FACC is an Assistant Professor in Cardiology in the Medical University of South Carolina, specializing in Advanced heart failure and Cardio-Oncology. On completing medical school in India, she pursued internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at the University of Connecticut/ Hartford Hospital program including a year as Chief fellow. She went on to complete an additional fellowship in Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplantation at the University of Minnesota. She has been on faculty at MUSC since 2016 and is currently the Director of the Cardio-Oncology program and the Co-Director of the CVICU.

As a woman physician, she is passionate about promoting women in cardiology and the cardiovascular health of women. She has taken an active role in furthering the efforts of the Women in Cardiology program at MUSC, the Go Red for Women campaign through the AHA’s SC Chapter. She is active in the national ACC’s Heart failure and Cardio-Oncology sections and has been selected as a Program committee member for the ACC’s Annual Scientific Session for 2022-2044 for the heart failure section. She is keenly interested in getting involved in the local South Carolina Chapter of the ACC to further promote cardiovascular health of all South Carolinians, and is eager to bring her knowledge, leadership skills and work closely with the SC ACC chapter in supporting SC’s cardiovascular specialists.
